That is so true! Sometimes they are treated like and loved like a flower...yes, I have done that. I lovingly watered this plant every week and it was thriving...then my Mum's friend came over and said 'Why have you got a weed in a pot?'. *sigh*

As a new gardener, I quickly learned that everyone has different ideas of what a weed is and what is a flower is. I had someone tell me to wack down my 6 beautiful lilac trees because they're weeds. Jeeeeeeez!
